YOUTH AND WOMEN SET TO BENEFIT FROM 5.1 BILLION AGRI-BUSINESS PROGRAMME FUNDS.
About a month ago, the European Union and partners launched agri-business programme in collaboration with the government, Denmark, FAO and the African Development Bank.
The 5.1 billion shillings is set to benefit 2400 women and potential youth entrepreneurs. Speaking during the launch in Nairobi, Chief Administrative Secretary for Agriculture Anne Nyaga said: “We welcome and fully support this initiative from the European Union, which is very much aligned with the ministry’s agricultural transformation and growth strategy 2019-2029 priorities.”
In Kenya we have 60% unemployment rate among youths, this programme is very timely and the 2400 set to benefit through this guided agribusiness programme will benefit a lot. Don’t just be among the youths waiting for the white collar job, agribusiness is a decent job.
Through this programme more than 15,000 job opportunities just as Edward Mungai, the Chief Executive Officer, Kenya Climate Innovation said that at this time when job opportunities are shrinking, they want to give hope to women and youth by engaging them in the AgriBiz programme and hence create badly needed jobs. He adds that their aim is also to increase agricultural productivity and boost food security in Kenya.
The programme is set to start in 8 counties which are Kilifi, Machakos, Kiambu, Meru, Isiolo, Kisii, Bungoma and Uasin Gishu. Question is; will you be among the beneficiaries?
