What’s Your Story? How did you start, what is your motivation, what problem are you solving etc.
I started Zawadi Home as I was waiting for a job placement. I had done two interviews already and succeeded. Since the job role was a supervisory one, we again had already undergone intense training only for the pandemic to hit our beloved country. My new employer being a darling, the HR reached out to me and asked for my patience as we waited to see how this period would pan out.
Since I could not just sit pretty and wait, I thought deeply about selling for one of the famous online platforms but it took me “too long” to get orders and there from, Zawadi Home was born.
Most people do business with people they trust and with that knowledge I made my mom’s colleague my first client and the rest is history as they say.
This journey has generally been a learning experience for me, more so getting to practice some of the things I studied in college. It has also made me undertake short courses on customer service and its dynamic to ensure as opportunities come my way, I am able to capture my employers – the customer – needs.
What motivates you to do what you do every day?
The feedback from my clients.
I get amazing “support” from friends and family, some of them mention my consistency in what I do.
The referrals thrown my way by both strangers and people I know have kept also me going.
Who has been your biggest motivation to do what you do?
My dear daughter has been my biggest motivation. When God trusts you to nurture another small broke human being, you have to “woman” up.
What unseen opportunities do you see that may result in making your business a huge success?
Business is so dynamic and one has to be on toes.
Investing in customer service is important.
What is your parting shot for those wishing to join the entrepreneurship train?
Don’t do something because it is working out for Sophia next door.
Identify a gap and fill it.
