A couple of months ago am sure your schedule was much more like mine, full. There wasn’t much free time between family, rest, work, playtime, career, social gatherings, church and sports.
Just try to think about it, when was the last time you had dinner with your family before this Virus hit the ground? When were you home early? Then all this running, and always busy schedule came to a halt. Overnight. You were home early, families together not for days, or weeks but months. Being home early have now became the new normal doing the same activities you probably did yesterday and the day before. What a life! I bet now you know the value of family, right? When everything get stripped away from you, what really matters?
We became much more focused on plate spinning, career advancement and chaos and at some point in time we forgot what really mattered. Visiting our parents as well back in the diaspora became a planned ones in a year affair. Would you be surprised if I told you that I don’t know most of my close relatives? Am sure you relate as well. When people were sacrificing their time to attend those get together’s I was probably out on the weekend with a group of friends, busy with class work and most of time working. I bet this pandemic has brought along positive impact into our lives and made us realize what it is that is of importance in our lives. Work or family? That’s your choice.
It’s about time we re-adjusted to our new daily routine by leaving behind our old life of chaos, over commitments, busy schedule , and late night meetings and infuse our relationships, family, marriage and parenting with meaning and most importantly purpose.
Responsibilities in and even outside your home will always require your attention. It’s upon you to make your life now better than it was before this pandemic. From my standpoint, God gives us all an open Canvas, uncountable chances but you get to decide how you’ll infuse it.
Don’t let the contrast between busy schedules, over commitments and boredom make you to contemplate what makes a life. Because when all is gone, when everything is robbed away from you, what really matters is Family.
