Talent is an ‘individuals” special ability that they are born with, and sometimes it is nurtured so that it can produce results such as helping others or generating money as a business idea.

The bible emphasizes that we all have talents that are God given so that we can use them to glorify the good works/service unto him.

As parents, it is our duty to recognize any talent that our children possess, especially in their early years, so that we can help nurture them. It is written in James 1:17, every good and perfect gift comes from God the father of lights who is invariable.

The world is evolving and “to do easily what is hard for others is the hallmark of talent”- Henri Friedric Amiel. However many people do not see light at the end of the tunnel, with the uncertain times we are facing.

Allow me to share a few hacks to help you brave this pandemic and earn you some cash, start where you are, start small and have faith in your business. “The ability to convert things to ideas is the secret of outward success”-Henry Ward Beecher

1. Homemade Coffee/ Porridge

The current cold season in our country is an opportunity for one to brew coffee and sell. Additionally one can sell porridge as most people want to keep warm as they run their errands. The location needs to be a busy hub spot like a bus terminus, your niche is adults.

2. Baked Treats

School going children are at home and you can teach them to bake cookies, or teach them how to cook peanuts and sell to their friends, this keeps them occupied and it enables them hone their talent, as they say talent without skill is like a desert without an oasis

3. Virtual Coaching

Embrace the advantage of e-learning platform and record a video then upload it, for your students, the possibility of the video being shared to other people is a sure bet that you can actually get paid as there are so many apps right now competing for customers.

In rural areas one can start tutoring the children who attend public schools, as most do not have access to electricity let alone devices or gadgets; here, passion is a key factor.

Go virtual especially if you are a seasoned coach or offer a free webinar and pass your expertise to many people who are willing to enrich their lives with acquired skills.

4. Healthy Snacks

One can seize the opportunity that vending simple snacks like potato samosa or dried pea’s samosas which are easy to prepare and they sell out fast.  Your niche here is mostly children. The ingredients are readily available and one needs to be passionate about cooking.

5. Sewing

Sewing face masks is another income earner. The materials used are readily available and are reusable as you can wash them, considering it may be a luxury to many people, who survive on less than a hundred shillings a day.

6. Collage

Design a pattern collection especially for children in kindergarten age; all you need are markers, drawing books, water paint and manila papers. The children will be busy painting simple art and it is a fun activity.

7. Photography

Have you ever thought about lifestyle photography or story telling use of photos? There are lots of captivating stories that happen daily. You can take photos that capture real issues happening in our communities. There are media houses that buy these photos.

8. Content Creation/Writing

Avid readers have an advantage of transferring their knowledge to paper. Try content writing and perfect as time goes by. Share your articles to credible blogging sites as they can market your articles to the right audience.

9. Volunteer

Volunteering jobs are many right now. Look for a credible organization be it a non-profit one or a religious outreach program. The current pandemic has birthed the need for food distribution to needy families in our communities.

There are positive effects of this pandemic that has forced us to rediscover ourselves by incorporating these skills. As they say, every cloud has a silver lining.
